I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and to thank you for using our products.
Each and every one of us has taken our "Made for Life" management slogan to heart, and together with healthcare professionals, we have been working to create new products, to disseminate information concerning their optimal use, to identify significant issues, and to apply all this experience to the next stage of product development, all while deeply respecting the precious "Life" of every patient. More than 10,000 Group employees, both in Japan and overseas, are constantly thinking about what they can do to improve medical care in various parts of the world, and they are expressing their concern and appreciation for "Life" by embodying them in our products.
The first overseas subsidiary to be established as a base for our global activities was Canon Medical Systems do Brasil (CMB) in Brazil. CMB, which began operations in 1974, celebrated its 50th anniversary in July of this year. Over the last 50 years, our activities have expanded from sales and service to include procurement, manufacturing, and R&D. We have also created an extensive network with medical institutions around the world, and this has led us to our current position of providing a wide range of solutions to serve more than 180 countries from offices in over 150 countries and regions.
