Today a small group gathered outside the North Bay Regional Health Centre’s Diagnostic Imaging Department to officially open the hospital’s new, upgraded MRI machine. NBRHC staff were joined by representative, Jens Dettmann President, Canon Medical Systems Canada, and leadership donor Max Shapiro for the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate both the completion of the MRI Upgrade Project and the community’s generosity that made it possible.

Canon Medical Systems Corporation has begun a collaborative research project with the National Cancer Center Japan Exploratory Oncology Research & Clinical Trial Center (NCC-EPOC) and EAST Hospital to investigate the clinical usefulness of photon counting computed tomography (PCCT), a next-generation diagnostic imaging system. This collaborative research is based on a framework agreement formalized in July 2020 and a basic joint research agreement in November with the National Cancer Center Japan.
