Product Specialist - Ultrasound

Canon Medical Systems Canada (CMSCA) is a leading worldwide provider of high-quality diagnostic imaging systems and comprehensive medical solutions looking for a highly capable Product Specialist – Ultrasound located in Toronto, Ontario.  The product specialist will be responsible for covering the Greater Toronto Area. 

In this position, the product specialist will play a key cross-functional role within the Ultrasound Business Unit, acting as a clinical and strategic resource across Canada. This individual will support high-priority projects, product launches, internal training, and advanced customer support. While this role is national in scope, it functions as a specialized overlay to the regional application specialist structure. The product specialist will represent Canon Medical Systems Canada in a professional manner at all times. This position collaborates effectively with CMSCA corporate and regional resources to achieve profitable revenue growth with customer satisfaction. As a member of CMSCA, this person will be an integral team player in the promotion of our ultrasound equipment to hospitals and private institutions.

Major Responsibilities

Sales & Tender Support

  • Provide ultrasound product and modality expertise in response to RFPs and tenders; 
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to refine positioning of key features based on customer needs; 
  • Maintain customer profiles, including key decision-makers and site-specific needs; 
  • Support the preparation and validation of RFPs in collaboration with Account Managers and the Ultrasound BU Manager; 
  • Assist Account Managers in translating clinical value into strategic product positioning to support the sales process. 

Strategic Initiatives & Product Lifecycle 

  • Actively contribute to product launches, including pre-launch training, positioning, and go-to-market preparation; 
  • Collect, organize, and summarize field-based feedback (technical or clinical) in a structured format for the BU Manager to relay to global HQ; 
  • Support strategic marketing efforts via webinars, workshops, and conference planning; 
  • Track market trends and competitor activities, as well as share relevant insights with the Ultrasound BU Manager to inform strategic planning. 

Internal Enablement & Training 

  • Collaborate with the Ultrasound Application Manager and BU Manager to assess learning needs and deliver training for the sales and application teams; 
  • Develop and update product training materials to ensure consistent knowledge across Canada; 
  • Promote team skill development aligned with evolving market trends and innovations; 
  • Develop and maintain product presentations, sales tools, and training materials tailored to internal teams and customer engagements. 

Product Support & Field Expertise 

  • Provide advanced ultrasound product support directly to clinical users and internal stakeholders; 
  • Deliver high-level demos, product evaluations, and supplementary clinical support as needed; 
  • Support the Ultrasound Business Unit Manager and broader team by contributing clinical and product knowledge on advanced ultrasound features as needed, particularly for strategic projects or specialized customer support; 
  • Participate in post-sales activities including follow-up training and workflow optimization in collaboration with the clinical applications team. 

Regulatory & Quality Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and quality procedures; 
  • Document and support field requests related to cleaning protocols and regulatory needs; 
  • Track and communicate needs for product improvement that may have direct sales impact.

Qualifications

  • Certified Sonographer in Canada (required); 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in ultrasound, preferably in both clinical and industry settings; 
  • Proven track record as an Ultrasound Application Specialist is highly desirable;
  • Languages: English required; French proficiency preferred or willingness to develop bilingual skills over time; 
  • Technical Proficiency: strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word); 
  • Comfortable with virtual communication platforms (e.g., Teams, Zoom); 
  • Soft skills: excellent communication and interpersonal skills; 
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to synthesize information and communicate clearly across teams; 
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a national role; 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

Additional Information 

  • Frequent national travel is expected, including site visits, training sessions, and conference support; 
  • This position does not include direct reports but requires leadership and influence within a collaborative team; 
  • This role will evolve with time and business needs, offering potential pathways into greater product management or strategic roles.
