Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) 

In Canada and as a global organization, we work hard to ensure our business activities employ our Corporate Social Responsibility policies: 

 

  • We continue to earn the trust of society by respecting life and making a positive contribution to the world. 
  • We practice ethical management by complying with required laws and ordinances, and nurturing the environment. 
  • We maintain clear and open communication with a variety of stakeholders, including customers, employees, and the community. 

Biannually, Canon Medical Systems Canada donates to Lung Cancer Canada and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada through a customer satisfaction survey.

Our goal is to provide medical professionals with the solutions they need to help improve the health and well-being of patients worldwide. 

 

Underpinning this goal is our ‘Made for Life’ philosophy, which inspires us to create technologies that provide faster, more accurate diagnoses, and better treatment outcomes. Each phase of a product's lifecycle is carefully designed to minimize environmental impact while optimizing value for healthcare providers and patients alike. 

 

We are also committed to integrating eco-conscious design principles into our products, emphasizing product efficiencies, as well as providing customers environmental information about our products upon request.

⁠Education

The importance of education as a means of improving patient care is an integral value of Canon Medical Systems. We are committed to providing comprehensive educational programs and supporting educational institutions that share the same value of developing and nurturing clinical excellence. We support diagnostic imaging programs across Canada by providing medical equipment on a non-profit basis or required funding. 

 

We have been a proud sponsor of the Advanced Imaging and Education Centre (AIEC) year after year. We are pleased with the efforts of the team which pivoted quickly during COVID-19 to provide the new AIEC Canon Medical Virtual Lecture Series. All will agree that hands-on experience is instrumental; in 2023 in-person learnings returned to the AIEC.

As a corporate citizen of planet earth, Canon Medical Systems Corporation is contributing to healthcare while working to achieve a sustainable environment. Everything we do is for people, for society, and for the Earth. The Canon Medical Systems group incorporates environmentally conscious designs in all our products to minimize environmental impact. This is the responsibility and commitment of the Canon Medical Systems group, which is expanding its business worldwide. Based on this philosophy, and to the extent technically and economically feasible, we promote environmental activities in accordance with the Canon Group Environmental Charter and the Canon Medical Systems Group Standards of Conduct.

 

In Canada, Canon Medical Systems Canada has obtained the ISO14001 certification. This achievement signifies our environmental leadership as it is the world’s most recognized environmental management system benchmark. Canon Medical Systems Canada strives to continuously improve upon the environmental performance of all business processes, including sales, distribution, servicing and disposal by committing to the following environmental objectives: 

Prevent pollution and use resources efficiently:

  • Divert waste from landfill,
  • Reduce energy consumption by increasing fleet vehicle fuel efficiency. 

Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws product end of life: 

  • Product end of life management.

Promoting biodiversity conservation activities in cooperation with communities: 

  • Improve the biodiversity of local ecosystems through the participation in annual conservation and stewardship projects. 

Providing environmentally conscious products: 

  • Reduction of CO2 emissions during system use,
  • Reduction of materials used in systems,
  • Management of chemical substances in systems.

Canon Medical Systems Canada annually supports Go Green for Earth Month by organizing eco-friendly activities to help make the environment healthier. An example is our “Project Clean Up” program where employees across the country were asked to gather and clean up an area within their region. Below are members of Canon Medical employees outside our logistics centre in Markham, Ontario. 

 

Their hours of effort made a big difference to this area. The organization donated $50 to Tree Canada for every participating group in this program during Earth Month.
