Human Resources Coordinator

Canon Medical Systems Canada is a leading worldwide provider of high quality diagnostic imaging systems and comprehensive medical solutions looking for highly capable Human Resources Coordinator to be located at our head office in Markham.  This is a 12 month contract.

In this position, you will report to the Director of Human Resources at Canon Medical Systems Canada and will help coordinate the day-to-day functions of HR.


Major Responsibilities

  • Support the recruitment process by helping to source candidates, assisting in shortlisting, issuing employment contracts and helping track vulnerable sector background checks etc. 
  • Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide assistance 
  • Create and coordinate internal and external communications to support HR initiatives
  • Create and improve employment policies, processes and practices to meet legislative requirements and better support the needs of the business.
  • Liaise with other departments or functions (payroll/benefits etc.) 
  • Assist supervisors in performance management procedures as required 
  • Create and distribute incentive pay plans for sales and product teams
  • Schedule meetings, interviews, HR events etc. and maintain the team’s agenda 
  • Perform orientations, onboarding and update records with new hires
  • Maintain and modify CMSCA’s document repository/E-Learning Portal
  • Help coordinate and track personnel training sessions and seminars
  • Produce and submit reports on general HR activity 
  • Assist in ad-hoc HR projects, like collection of employee feedback
  • Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee activities and meetings
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure all HR action forms and all back office functions are executed
  • Act as a backup for other team members when needed
  • Assists HR Director with other projects as necessary 
  • Support other functions as assigned 


Requirement Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven experience in the field of HR with experience in recruiting management level employees.
  • Degree or diploma in HR management or similar discipline
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
  • Knowledge of all employment legislation (ESA, OHSA etc.)
  • Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular) 
  • Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems is an asset 
  • In-depth understanding of sourcing tools, like resume databases and online communities 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills 
  • A high level of integrity for handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Highly motivated and efficient, with the ability to execute and manage a diversity of tasks, activities and projects
  • Good organizational and time management skills 
  • CHRL certification or in process of obtaining CHRL designation considered an asset.
